Reissue of the 1998 album by Zorn’s successor band, The Men Of Hell, originally released on Maximum Voice, featuring newly created cover artwork on Audiolith. From 1992 to 1997, the quintet Zorn, hailing from the Heidelberg and Mannheim area, whose drummer Marco Haas is now known as T. Raumschmiere and owner of the Shitkatapult label, was among the leading forces in the German hardcore scene. The evolution from their first 7″ single, “Heftig Aufflammender Unwille,” released in 1994, with its darkly driving, brutal hardcore that predates the term “emo,” to their 1997 album “…Denn Alle Lust Will Ewigkeit,” a monument of pathos and depression, self-destruction and catharsis, is particularly striking. Over time, Zorn integrated metal and goth elements, eruption and implosion alternated, and their aggression became increasingly inward-directed. Alongside acts like ABC-Diabolo, Acme, Golgatha, and Luzifers Mob, Zorn were in the spotlight of the local hardcore scene, carving out their own niche with clean guitar parts, German “screaming” vocals, and a precursor to sludge. In 1998, as The Men Of Hell, they released these six tracks, which evolved even further towards metal and doom. An absolute killer album from the German Neurosis. Here, the apocalypse is conjured up, and the guitars shimmer menacingly.
